        The science of ice and heat


        Extreme cold and extreme heat are called hormetic stressors, meaning they challenge the body to adapt without putting it in danger. When transferring between the ice and heat specifically, we force to blood vessels to expand and contract, creating changes in blood flow that can clear out metabolic waste products that cause inflammation and damage, and stimulating the cardiovascular system like a workout. But even more importantly, pairing hot and cold together allows you to experience each for longer, stacking all of the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of the individual modalities.
